Dr. Debal Kar is has 37 years experience in Library profession worked as University Librarian at Galgotias University, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University Delhi, TERI University and at The Energy and Resources Institute.

He is a SLA Fellow and Hall of Fame, founder-editor of World Digital Libraries - (2008-2012). He served as president SLA Asian Community/Chapter 2008, 2017, 2021, President SLA S&T Community 2023, and SLA Board of Director 2022. He was Vice-Chair of IFLA RDC - Asia and Oceania 2021-2023 and IFLA Social Science Libraries Section Standing Committee 2021-2025 member.
