The much-awaited and talked-about India’s “One Nation One Subscription (ONOS)” plan to provide country-wide access to 18 million students and researchers access to over 13,000 journals. India, the third-largest producer of research papers globally, is set to revolutionize access to academic resources. The deal, worth $715 million over three years, covers journals from over 30 big publishers, including Elsevier, Springer Nature, Wiley, Taylor & Francis, ACS, IEEE, etc. It will be the largest of its kind worldwide national consortia. International academic and research communities have applauded the move, noting its potential to reshape India’s research landscape.
